KMR UVX 7Through Pastor Ken Miller Rieman and the Olympic View Community Church in Seattle, Brethren of the Pacific Northwest are collaborating with the community of Union Victoria in Guatemala to advance sustainable permaculture in an area that has been recently ravaged by windstorms and a recent coffee bean blight, which come in the midst of continuing healing efforts after the trauma of civil war in the 1980s. Several members of our district have visited the Union Victoria community over the years, and we are seeking to develop a lasting, deep relationship from our region to theirs, so that our work of ‘mission’ goes beyond charity to mutual service.  We know that we have much to learn from one another, about sustainability, about resilience after trauma, and about peace in a changing world.

KMR UVX 9Learn about the partnership with Guatemala in an interview with Pastor Ken as part of the Living Stream online worship service on January 26, 2014. Click here to find the video, and watch from 17:28 – 37:44 to hear Ken talk about our partnership with Guatemala.  Find out about ways to get involved through the Olympic View website.
